Design
The information provided
here is based on my personal style. Although I prefer to design my
sites in the following manner, I am open to ideas and suggestions and
won't be limited to it. We'll work together to create something
that works for YOU.
My Style:
I prefer a cleaner design
with tables and customized navigation bars, a style that's easy on the eyes (not too
flashy or busy), no frames, and something that requires a limited amount
of scrolling. I'm a linker, not a scroller. I'm not too big
on lots of sounds and active graphics, either. I do, however, like
an occasional banner for emphasis and enjoy customizing them.
My design style is more
applicable to an informative site for a small business or organizations or a
fun site for personal use (hobbies, special occasions). However,
I'm always willing to try anything that a requestor would like to see in
a website. If I can't do it, I'll learn
how or find someone who can!
My Knowledge:
I have a Bachelor of Science & Business Administration in Marketing and
have worked full time in a Customer Service environment and as a
Software Test Analyst and Business Analyst in Quality Assurance. I'm
a self-taught FrontPage 2000/2002 girl and have an understanding of HTML
and Visual Basic and Java scripting, although not extensive. I don't, however, limit
myself to what FrontPage can "do FOR me." I use tables and other
creative ideas rather than keeping within the confines of FrontPage
templates and themes. I work within the FrontPage
software with ease and with graphics and imaging software such as Image
Composer, Corel PaintShop Pro, and Photo Shop. I'm also
comfortable using Microsoft Office Professional software such as Word,
PowerPoint, Publisher, and Excel. My experience with form
handling has been for gathering information from the visitor, such
as Contact pages and Guestbooks. That's usually all that the types
of sites I build would require. I use many of the free services on
the web for search engine optimization which will get your site indexed
with major search engines and help people find you on the internet.
I've worked with PayPal and can incorporate it into your site if you
need to obtain online payments for products or services.

Graphics
If you have a logo or
other graphics in mind for your site, I can build customized graphics
for you. I do not charge a flat fee for specialized graphics, just
the standard hourly rate for the time invested in
design. You're welcome to provide your favorite graphics as well. My preference would be
digitally, via email or on CD. If you don't have digital photos but
have prints or other graphics you'd like to use, I'll be glad to scan
them in.
Most of the graphics, banners, and logos that you see on
the Lakeshore Church site are
my personal designs. The
Bonnie's Quilts logo is my design as well.

After
consulting with you about your website goals and needs, and for a site up
to 4 pages, I ask for $250.00 to cover the initial phase of registering
and preparing the domain name, design consultation, site navigation
structure and initial design prototype. Add an additional $50.00
per page if more than four. For
every one (1) hour of work after initial setup, the cost will be at the rate of
$25.00 per hour. This applies to all aspects of the design,
including special logos and graphics. I'll never work more than
four (4) hours at a time without giving you an update and the
opportunity to approve and sign off on the progress. I keep a
detailed spreadsheet of every project so that you can see the effort
that has gone into your site. Rates for smaller sites are
negotiable.
For your
reference, this is a five (5) page site that took an average of 10 hours
to build and set up.

If your site will require
updates, I'll be happy to serve as webmaster. If the updates require more than one (1) hour of work,
they'll be made at the rate of
$25.00 per hour. Any updates that require less than an hour to
complete will be free of charge (limit one update request per week,
please). I will do my best to provide
same-day service whenever possible, and should have updates completed
within one week. In my opinion, if your goal for the site is to
see repeat and frequent visitors, your content should change
often...especially on your home page. Stale content on a site that
people expect to see updated gives the impression that the website is
un-important and not worthy of time spent to keep it current.

Hosting
I am a
website designer. I'm not in the business of hosting or paying
annual domain registration fees for websites, only designing them.
I will be glad to assist you in registering a domain name and/or finding
a host that will meet your needs, but you will be under contract with
the providers for their services and responsible for payment directly to
them. There are many companies available for domain registration
and hosting services. Once you have your website goals in mind,
I would encourage you to research space and bandwidth requirements and
review your options with website hosts.
Once
you've made your registrar and host choices, I will:
-
Register
the domain name and set it up with me as the technical contact (unless
you specify otherwise)
-
Set up
user information on the hosting account and any email accounts
-
Name you
as the responsible party and personal contact based on information you
provide
I will
immediately pass security and access information on to you. If
you'd like to retain me as your webmaster, I'll
use the access information for updating your site. There are a few
companies that I deal with regularly and can make recommendations based
on my personal experiences.
